Safety
For children aged 4 and over who can get out of bed by themselves. Never for babies or infants. Use it instead of a duvet, never under one. The blanket's top edge sits below the shoulders, so the face and neck are always free. Pull the dial up to release the hug instantly; the clips are breakaway. No cords or drawstrings anywhere. Safety testing is planned before launch; see Safety & testing.

The science of a good squeeze
Deep pressure is the firm, even pressure of a tight hug or being tucked in. Researchers have studied it for decades. Here's what they've found.
Pressure helps the body switch to "rest" mode
A busy, alert body: the "fight or flight" side of the nervous system is in charge, which makes settling hard.
Heart-rate study: Chen et al., J. Medical & Biological Engineering, 2013 ↗59% vs 5%
of adults with insomnia (including people with ADHD and anxiety) saw a major improvement after 4 weeks with a pressure blanket, compared with a light blanket.
73 autistic children tested pressure at bedtime
In a UK trial, wrist trackers showed no change in sleep time with weighted blankets. But children and parents still preferred them, and felt the kids were calmer. Comfort and calm matter, even when the stopwatch doesn't move.
Gringras et al., Pediatrics, 2014 ↗How the SensoryTrio uses it
- Deep, even pressure over the whole body, from tension, like being tucked in tight
- No weight, no beads, with a breathable TENCEL™ lining and filling
- One dial, any firmness, so the pressure fits each child and each night
- Comfort first: the trials above found children and parents valued calm and comfort; that's what we design for

Questions parents ask
Is it a weighted blanket?
No. The calming pressure comes from the adjustable hug in blanket mode, not from weight, so there are no beads and nothing heavy to lift. As a gown it has the soft, substantial feel of wearing your blanket.
Can my child sleep in it all night?
That's what it's designed for, in blanket mode, used instead of a duvet, for children aged 4 and over who can get out of bed by themselves. Overnight use will be confirmed by testing before launch.
How does the hug work?
A soft Bed Band goes round the mattress once. The blanket clips to it with three soft clips each side. One dial on the band, at hip height, draws both edges down the sides of the mattress so the blanket tightens evenly over the whole body, like being tucked in tight. Turn it for a firmer hug; pull it up to let go instantly.
Can my child get out on their own?
Yes. The top edge sits below the shoulders, so the face and arms are always free. Pulling the dial up releases the whole hug, and the clips are breakaway, so a child who sits up and pushes hard pops them open. A built-in maximum keeps it to a firm hug even at full wind. Practise together before the first night.
Will my child get too hot?
The lining and filling are breathable TENCEL™ lyocell, with no polyester fill. It's used instead of a duvet, never under one. Your child can loosen the hug or put their feet out without getting up. Keep the bedroom cool, with light pyjamas underneath.
How does it turn into a hoodie gown?
Unclip it from the Bed Band, pull the hidden sleeves out through their slits, lift the hood out of the top band, fold up the leg end, and zip the front. The gown has no compression parts. Reverse the steps to go back to a blanket.
Does the hood ever cover the face?
No. In blanket mode the hood stays packed away and the blanket sits below the shoulders. In gown mode the face opening is framed so it can never close over the face.
Which size should I choose?
Choose by height, not age: Young Kids 100–125 cm, Teens 125–150 cm, Older Teens 150–170 cm. Between sizes? Choose the larger one for a roomier gown; the dial takes up the difference in bed. Measurements are design targets, confirmed after sampling.
What bed does it fit?
US single and US double beds, with mattresses 15 to 30 cm deep.
What is the chew tab?
A flat, solid tab in food-grade silicone on one top corner of the blanket, so children who chew have something safe to chew instead of the fabric. It's a tab, never a cord or loop. Check it before use and stop using it if it's cut, torn or loose. The hoodie gown has no chew part.
How do I wash it?
Unclip it from the Bed Band, take out the scent card, close the zip and machine wash gently. Full care instructions are being confirmed in wash testing and will be on the label.
Has it been safety tested?
Not yet. Testing is planned before launch with an accredited UK laboratory, covering children's bedding and garment standards, including cords and drawstrings (BS EN 14682), breathability and flammability, plus supervised exit and overnight heat trials. We'll publish results here as they're completed.
When will my pre-order ship?
The SensoryTrio is in sampling. Founding families ship first when production starts, and we'll email your ship date as soon as it's set.
What is the Dozewell Circle?
An optional $12.99/month membership for parents and carers: a private community of families raising neurodivergent kids, live group coaching and Q&As with psychologists and clinicians who specialise in neurodiversity, and hands-on parent workshops. It's education and support, not therapy or diagnosis. Cancel anytime.
